eSIM をご購入いただくと、リンクと QR コードを記載したメールがすぐに届きます。ご自宅の Wi-Fi で設定してください。有効期間はまだ始まらず、現地での最初の接続から数え始めます。ついでに、中国で必要になるアプリもダウンロードしておきましょう。
着陸したらオンに
北京大興、上海浦東、広州白雲、成都天府、香港国際、マカオ国際 — どこに到着しても、設定で Simbye 回線をオンにし、その回線のデータローミングを有効にするだけです。手動での設定は何もなく、すぐにつながります。
移動中はそのままで

中国ではeSIMと現地のSIMカード、どちらがよいですか？
香港やマカオへ渡るなら eSIM です。同じプランがそのまま動き続けてテザリングもできますが、中国の SIM はカウンターでのパスポート提示と、境界ごとの新しいカードが必要になります。

One plan for mainland, Hong Kong and Macao – instead of three
A trip to China rarely stays in one place. Many people fly into Beijing, take the high-speed train via Xi'an to Shanghai, continue to Guangzhou or Guilin – and finish with a few days in Hong Kong and a side trip to Macao. On that route you cross two borders where your phone switches to a different network.
With single-country eSIMs you buy three plans for that: one for the mainland, one for Hong Kong, one for Macao. Each has a minimum size, and two days in Macao barely use a few hundred megabytes – the rest is wasted. Then there is the effort: three setups, three emails, switching at every border and hoping it works first time.
A regional plan works differently. You pay once, the data travels with you, and whether you spend it in Chengdu or in Kowloon makes no difference. If Hong Kong is your only stop and nothing else, a single-country plan still serves you well – the advantage appears the moment there is more than one destination on the list.
Where coverage gets thin
You will find network where most travellers go: in the mega-cities, along the high-speed rail lines, and almost everywhere in Hong Kong and Macao. It gets thinner in the west – on the Tibetan and Qinghai plateau, across the desert stretches of Xinjiang and in the mountains of Yunnan there are long, sparsely settled stretches between towns; do not expect a continuous connection there. On the high-speed train the connection also drops in tunnels; that is normal and does not mean something is wrong with the eSIM.
The second thin spot has nothing to do with masts and everything to do with the services themselves. In mainland China many services you use at home are not reachable on local connections. So do not count on everything working: if you only start looking at the airport, you are left without maps, without a translator and without a messenger. Download offline maps first, set up WeChat and a payment app, and save your hotel address in Chinese – that saves more evenings than any extra gigabyte.
One practical point at the end: this eSIM comes without a phone number. Anything that wants to verify you by SMS – a ride-hailing app, a bank, a ticket site – sends the code to your usual number. Keep it active in your phone, and check beforehand what your home provider charges for receiving abroad.
