ホンジュラスではどの通信ネットワークにつながりますか?
After you land, your phone finds the Claro network on its own — there are no settings to type in.

The eSIM rides on Claro. Once you land, switch airplane mode off and data roaming on for the Simbye line — the phone does the rest: it finds Claro, registers and you are online. If nothing shows up after a few minutes, pick Claro manually in your mobile network settings and restart the phone. You travel on 4G — Honduras has no nationwide 5G yet, not for an eSIM and not for a card bought in a shop.
Coverage is solid in Tegucigalpa, Comayagua, San Pedro Sula, El Progreso, Choluteca, La Ceiba, Tela, Trujillo and Santa Rosa de Copán, and along the main road between the capital and San Pedro Sula. On Roatán it covers the inhabited corners — West End, West Bay, Coxen Hole, French Harbour — and on Utila the town around the dive schools. Copán Ruinas itself has signal; the mountain roads leading there do not, all the way. It thins out in Pico Bonito National Park and around Lago de Yojoa, and in La Mosquitia in the east there is next to nothing beyond Puerto Lempira. On the ferry to the islands and on any dive boat you are offline anyway.

A local SIM needs ID and fingerprints — this eSIM needs no registration
Buy a prepaid SIM in a shop in Honduras and you have to identify yourself — and since 2025 showing a document is no longer enough: a photo, your fingerprints and your ID number are recorded at the point of sale, and the card ends up in your name. That costs time, depends on opening hours and happens in Spanish.
The eSIM skips all of it. You buy online, the QR code arrives by email and you show nothing to anyone. The trade-off, stated plainly: you get no Honduran phone number. There are no calls and no text messages over the network — everything that runs on data does.

ホンジュラスではeSIMと現地のSIMカード、どちらがよいですか?
| 比較 | Simbye eSIM | 現地SIMカード |
|---|---|---|
| Ready to go | Set up before departure, online the moment you land | Only after arrival, and only while a shop is open |
| ID | No registration, nobody asks for your passport | Show ID and, since 2025, register biometrically; the card is in your name |
| Paying | Online with your own card, in your own currency | Cash in lempiras; not every kiosk takes cards |
| Phone number | None — data only | A Honduran number with calls and SMS |
| Home number | Stays active alongside, so family and your bank still reach you | On a single-SIM phone you have to take your own SIM out |
| Language | Purchase and instructions in your language | Advice and top-up menus mostly in Spanish |
| Topping up | Online any time, the same eSIM stays in the phone | Buy credit at a kiosk or in a pulpería |
| If something goes wrong | Support by email, a fresh QR code if needed | Back to the shop where you bought it |
Why your plan from home turns into a lottery here
Roaming in Honduras is billed by your own operator at home, and how it does that sits in a price list almost nobody opens before departure. Sometimes it is a day pass, sometimes a price per megabyte, sometimes the country falls into a zone with no bundle at all. What they share: you only see the total on the bill after the trip — and until then you use your phone with the handbrake on.
A prepaid eSIM flips that around. You pay a fixed amount up front for a fixed amount of data, and when it is used up the connection stops instead of ticking on. No contract, no notice period, no surprise charge afterwards. A week of diving on Utila runs on a small bundle; four weeks working from a laptop in Tegucigalpa calls for the biggest one. You decide that before the flight, not after it.
How far Claro reaches — and where it stops
The cities are the easy part: Tegucigalpa, Comayagua, San Pedro Sula, El Progreso, Choluteca, La Ceiba, Tela, Trujillo and Santa Rosa de Copán have solid 4G, as does the main road between the capital and San Pedro Sula. On Roatán the network covers the inhabited corners, on Utila the town with the dive schools. For maps, a translator, a ferry ticket and a video call home that is plenty.
In between it gets harder. On the mountain roads to Copán Ruinas, in Pico Bonito National Park, around Lago de Yojoa and above all in La Mosquitia the signal drops out; only an offline map downloaded in advance helps there. On the ferry between La Ceiba and the islands, and on any dive boat, you are offline too. Travel the country by bus and you will have good reception in the towns and little in between — so plan bookings and messages around the stops.
ホンジュラス向けSimbye eSIMの使い方
2分以内に接続できます
Set it up at home
Buy the plan, get the QR code by email and install the eSIM over Wi-Fi — ideally a day or two before departure. Nothing starts counting yet.
Switch it on after landing
Airplane mode off, data roaming on for the Simbye line. That goes for Palmerola near Comayagua, the international airport serving Tegucigalpa, just as much as for San Pedro Sula, Roatán and La Ceiba.
Stay online and top up
Your plan starts with the first connection inside Honduras. Running low? Top up online: the eSIM stays in your phone and you never need a second QR code.

ホンジュラスで本当に必要なアプリ
Almost everything in Honduras happens on WhatsApp: the hotel booking, the dive course, the airport pickup. Plan the app in as your main channel and you will rarely need a phone number. For getting around, use Google Maps or Waze — but do not count on street numbers; outside the capital people describe routes by landmarks. Download offline maps for the mountain roads, the north coast and La Mosquitia before you set off. You will not need the Mi Claro operator app: it is built for customers with a Honduran number, and your data plan is managed with us.
Hotels, dive schools, drivers and tour operators in Honduras nearly all answer on WhatsApp, and calls inside it run over data.
Signing up needs a one-time SMS code. This eSIM has no phone number, so set WhatsApp up on your home number before you fly.
inDrive
Ride-hailing in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula where you name a fare yourself and the driver accepts or turns it down.
Payment is usually cash in lempiras, and drivers like to phone you. Calls do not reach this eSIM: use the in-app chat and name a landmark as the pickup point.
Uber
Runs in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and around Comayagua — including Palmerola airport, about an hour's drive from Tegucigalpa.
There is no ride-hailing app on Roatán, Utila or in Copán Ruinas. You take a taxi or a colectivo there and agree the price before getting in.
PedidosYa
The country's delivery app for food, groceries and pharmacy runs — in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, El Progreso, Choluteca and Puerto Cortés.
Nobody delivers outside the larger cities. On the Islas de la Bahía and in Copán you order straight from the restaurant on WhatsApp, often paying cash.
Wave App (Galaxy Wave)
Schedules and e-tickets for the ferry from La Ceiba to Roatán and Utila, straight on your phone.
Only a few crossings run per day and you are expected at the terminal about an hour ahead. Book and download the ticket while you still have signal — at the pier and on board it is shaky.
Tigo Money
The mobile wallet many Hondurans pay with; small shops, kiosks and drivers settle up through it.
An account requires a Honduran ID card — without one you cannot register as a visitor, whatever SIM you use. Bring cash in lempiras.
