Your phone connects to Orange on the French side and holds it from Marigot and Grand Case to Orient Bay.
There is no operator to pick. The line runs on Orange and your phone latches on by itself — no APN to enter, no profile to install, no app to open first. Whether you arrive by air or step off the ferry at Marigot, switch on data roaming for the Simbye line and the bars are usually there within a minute. If nothing shows after a couple of minutes, put the phone into airplane mode, count to ten and switch it back off; that clears most of it. Still quiet? Open the network settings, turn off automatic selection and choose the network from the list by hand — worth doing anywhere near the southern border, where phones on a small island like to wander.
Marigot, Grand Case, Orient Bay, Anse Marcel, Cul-de-Sac and the built-up stretch around Sandy Ground and Baie Nettlé are the reliable parts, and the road that loops the French side carries fine between them. It fades where the island goes quiet: the climb up Pic Paradis and the trails through the interior, the walk over to Happy Bay and Petites Cayes, the far corners of the Terres Basses and the back of the lagoon. Offshore counts as well — the boat out to Îlet Pinel or Tintamarre, and any longer crossing over to Anguilla or Saint Barth, will drop you. One thing worth knowing: this line is at home on the French northern half, so if you cross the border south into Dutch Sint Maarten, check what your phone has latched onto down there.
