Как работает Simbye eSIM для Сейшельских островов?
Подключение менее чем за 2 минуты
Set it up before you travel
After ordering you get an email with a link and a QR code. Tapping the link installs the eSIM, or you scan the code with your camera. Do it calmly at home on Wi-Fi. This does not start the clock.
Arrive in the Seychelles
All international flights land on Mahé at Seychelles International Airport near Pointe Larue. From there you continue on the 15-minute domestic hop to Praslin Island Airport at Grand Anse, or by ferry to Praslin and La Digue. La Digue has no airfield of its own. Once you land, switch on data roaming for the eSIM and it will find the Airtel network by itself.
Get going
The clock starts with your first connection in the Seychelles. Your phone keeps count of how much data you have used in its settings, and you are free to use the hotspot for a laptop or tablet. If you run low, top up at any time without installing a new eSIM.
Проверить совместимость устройства
Убедитесь, что ваше устройство поддерживает eSIM перед покупкой

В каких сетях ты будешь на связи на Сейшельских островах?
The eSIM runs on the Airtel Seychelles network – one network, no choice, no switching, 4G in daily use.
Your phone finds the network on its own. This eSIM is fixed to the Airtel network. You cannot switch to another network in the country, such as Cable & Wireless, which is worth knowing up front. There is nothing to configure: switch on data roaming for the eSIM and you are online, and you never type in an APN by hand. Day to day you will be on 4G.
Coverage is solid across the inhabited parts of the islands. On Mahé that means Victoria, the only city, plus Eden Island, the east coast with the airport at Pointe Larue, Beau Vallon in the northwest and the coastal roads down to Anse Royale and Baie Lazare. On Praslin the network holds at the Baie Sainte Anne ferry port, in Grand Anse and along the Côte d'Or at Anse Volbert, which is where the hotels are. On La Digue it works in La Passe and along the coastal paths. It thins out in the mountainous interior of Mahé, for example on the trails in Morne Seychellois National Park, and at a few remote coves. On the outer islands such as the Amirantes, Aldabra or Farquhar you should not count on mobile coverage; communication there generally runs over satellite.
eSIM или местная SIM-карта на Сейшельских островах?
| Сравнение | Simbye eSIM | Местная SIM-карта |
|---|---|---|
| ID required | No. The eSIM is fully set up before you fly, and you show nothing at any counter. | Yes. The local prepaid SIM is registered against your passport. |
| When you get online | Straight after landing, still in the arrivals hall on Mahé. | Only after the queue, the form and the ID check at the counter. |
| Network | Airtel, fixed, no switching. | You pick between the local providers in the shop. |
| Data and validity | 1 to 3 GB for 7 to 15 days, chosen before you leave home. | Whatever the shop happens to have in stock that day. |
| Paying | In advance from home with your normal card. | On the spot, usually cash in Seychellois rupees. |
| Phone number | None. Data only, no calls, no SMS. | You get a Seychellois number on the +248 dialling code. |
| Your SIM slot | Stays free, the eSIM is digital. Your home SIM stays in the phone and your number stays active – though calls on it are still billed at your operator's foreign rate. | The physical card takes the slot, so your home SIM has to come out. |
| Topping up | Online at any time, no new eSIM needed. | Buy a scratch card in a shop or kiosk. |
eSIM Seychelles: why roaming on your home contract gets expensive
The Seychelles sit alone in the Indian Ocean, far off the East African coast, and no home network reaches that far. Whatever you pay at home, virtually every operator bills the archipelago at its international rate, and the travel add-ons they sell are hard to compare until the invoice arrives. This is the one cost of the trip you can settle before you leave.
There is also something particular about this trip: you are constantly on the move. From the airport at Pointe Larue to Beau Vallon, by ferry to Praslin, on to La Digue, and each time you want a map, a ferry time or a message to your guesthouse. Hotel Wi-Fi does not help with any of that, because you are not at the hotel. In simpler guesthouses it can also be slow, or only work in the lobby.
A prepaid data eSIM turns that around. You pick 1 to 3 GB for 7 to 15 days, pay a fixed amount before you fly, watch your usage in your phone settings and get no surprise after the trip. There is no contract and no registration, and setup takes a few minutes with a QR code. Your home number stays active in the device, so calls from your bank or your family still reach you, though your operator still bills those at its foreign rate. Only the data runs over the eSIM.
Where the network reaches, and where it does not
The Seychelles are made up of roughly 115 islands, but almost every traveller moves between just three of them. Mahé is the largest. It holds Victoria, the country's only city, the international airport near Pointe Larue, the Eden Island residential and marina district and the beach area of Beau Vallon. Along the coastal roads down to Anse Royale in the south and Baie Lazare in the southwest, the Airtel network is steady.
You reach Praslin by ferry or on the 15-minute domestic flight to Praslin Island Airport at Grand Anse. You have signal at the Baie Sainte Anne ferry port, in Grand Anse and along the Côte d'Or at Anse Volbert, which is exactly where the hotels are. On La Digue, where most people get around by bicycle, it holds in La Passe and along the coastal paths.
It is only fair to say where it stops: in the mountainous interior of Mahé, for example on the trails in Morne Seychellois National Park, and at a few remote coves. On the outer islands such as the Amirantes, Aldabra or Farquhar you should not count on mobile coverage; communication there generally runs over satellite. If you are planning a day out on the water or a hike, save the map offline first and tell someone where you are going.
ID at the counter, and a Travel Authorisation before you fly
Roaming on your home contract is the expensive way to stay online in the Seychelles: virtually every operator bills the archipelago as a foreign country, and the travel add-ons on offer are hard to compare before the bill arrives. A prepaid data eSIM is a fixed amount you pay up front instead – no contract, no registration.
If you pick up a local prepaid SIM instead, it has to be registered against your passport. That is mandatory in the Seychelles and costs you time at the counter. This eSIM needs no such registration. Separately from all of that: every traveller needs an electronic Seychelles Travel Authorisation before arrival. You apply online or through the Seychelles E-Border app, it carries a fee, and it has nothing to do with your eSIM.

Приложения, которые действительно нужны тебе на Сейшельских островах
A few things work differently in the Seychelles than you are used to. Uber does not operate anywhere here, the buses no longer take cash, inter-island ferries are booked in a browser, and the entry clearance is best sorted out at home. These six cover that. Most of them you will want from your first hour on Mahé.
Seychelles E-Border
The official app for the Travel Authorisation. Every traveller needs this clearance before arrival; you upload passport details, flight and accommodation.
Do it before you fly, not at the airport. Handle it at home on Wi-Fi, since the eSIM only connects once you have landed. There is a fee.
Linkup – Taxi & Delivery
The local taxi and delivery app for Mahé and Praslin. Uber and Bolt do not operate anywhere in the Seychelles, so this is the homegrown alternative.
Very short-notice rides often fail, the app usually wants lead time, and reviews are mixed. Plan B: take a taxi from the rank, agree the fare first, pay cash in Seychellois rupees.
SPTC
The state bus operator's app with timetables, live bus positions and the routes across Mahé and Praslin. The bus is the cheapest way to see the islands.
Buses have not taken cash since 2023. You need a Visitor Travel Card, sold at the airport, at post offices and in selected shops. Without one the driver will not let you on.
The normal way to message your guesthouse, a taxi driver, a boat tour or a guide. It runs on the eSIM's data, and there are no known blocks in the Seychelles.
Your usual number stays in place. But this eSIM has no phone number, so if you have to set WhatsApp up on a new device once you are there, the SMS code will not arrive through it.
Ferries: Cat Cocos & Cat Rose (web)
The ferries between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, booked on the operators' websites. The ticket arrives by email on your phone.
There is no app; booking runs through the browser. In high season the crossings sell out early, so sort it out in advance rather than at the harbour.
Google Maps or Organic Maps
Navigation for a hire car, for walking, for the hiking trails in the interior of Mahé and for the bike paths on La Digue.
You have no signal in Morne Seychellois National Park or at remote coves. Save the maps of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue offline beforehand, or navigation will stop exactly where you need it.
