The eSIM is not tied to one operator. After you land, your phone connects automatically to an available Danish network: TDC, run by nuuday, has its own, and Telenor and Telia have shared one for years. For you that simply means there is a fallback – if the signal drops, your phone looks for the next available network on its own. You never pick a carrier and you never type in settings. The only thing that matters is leaving data roaming switched on: the eSIM is a guest on a Danish network, and that is exactly what the switch is for.
In Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Roskilde and Helsingør you have coverage essentially everywhere, almost continuous 4G in the cities and 5G across large parts of them. The holiday regions are well served too: the North Sea coast around Blåvand, Henne Strand, Søndervig and Hvide Sande, the Ringkøbing Fjord, Rømø and Fanø, Djursland and the Legoland area near Billund, Skagen at the northern tip, Møns Klint, Marielyst on Falster, the Limfjord and the island of Bornholm. It gets thin in some dune hollows and woodland on the west coast, on very small islands and out at sea: on the ferries across the Kattegat or over to Bornholm the connection can drop out for long stretches. Holiday houses often have slow Wi-Fi or none at all – there the mobile network is usually the faster line.

Why travellers bring their own data eSIM to Denmark
Roaming on your home contract is the expensive and unpredictable part of a trip: many plans bill Denmark by the day or by the megabyte, and the ones that do include roaming almost always cap how much data you may use abroad. In a holiday house with unusable Wi-Fi that cap arrives faster than you would expect, and once it is gone you are either throttled or paying extra after the fact. A prepaid eSIM turns all of that into one decision you make before you leave: no contract, no registration, nothing to cancel afterwards.
Copenhagen is a major cruise and conference port, and many people arriving here have flown a long way. For them, a few days of maps and navigation on a home plan is often the bigger item on the bill. The third case is the second line: people travelling on business prefer to keep data use and billing cleanly apart from their private number, and the eSIM simply runs alongside the SIM already in the phone.
On top of that, Denmark is an unusually digital country. Parking runs through an app, train tickets run through an app, a rental bike will not unlock without a connection, and even small shops expect a card rather than cash. Being offline in Denmark leaves you more stranded than in most countries – which is exactly why a second, independent data connection is worth more here than elsewhere.
How far the Danish networks actually reach
Two radio networks matter for your eSIM in Denmark: TDC runs its own, and Telenor and Telia merged theirs into a shared network. In practice that means a fallback whenever one of them is weak in a given spot. In the cities coverage does not stop underground either – you usually have signal on the Copenhagen metro, and the regional trains across Zealand and Funen work too, with the usual short gaps in cuttings and tunnels.
It gets weaker where almost nobody lives: deep dune hollows and pine woods right on the west coast, small islands such as Læsø, Samsø or Ærø depending on where you stand, and out at sea. On the ferries – across the Kattegat, over to Bornholm or towards Germany – the connection can disappear entirely for long stretches mid-crossing. That is not specific to this eSIM; it applies to every phone on board. Exactly where the edge lies depends on the individual spot, and nobody can promise you coverage at every point along the coast. So plan the ferry as a dead zone: download your maps and tickets beforehand and the crossing is a non-issue.
Denmark stops at the border – Greenland and the Faroe Islands are not included
The plan covers the Danish part of the kingdom: Jutland, Funen, Zealand, Bornholm and the smaller islands in between. The Faroe Islands and Greenland belong to Denmark constitutionally, but they have their own operators, their own country codes and are billed separately – this eSIM does not work there. It only gets expensive if your usual SIM connects there instead. Coverage likewise ends on the Øresund Bridge towards Malmö, on the ferry to Puttgarden, and on the fast Bornholm route via Ystad in Sweden. On Bornholm itself you are back in Denmark.
You do not have to register in Denmark: there is still no legal ID or registration requirement for prepaid SIMs, and proposals to introduce one have not passed. Working the other way, some Danish providers have voluntarily made life harder for visitors by requiring MitID – the Danish digital ID, available to residents only – for new prepaid cards. With an eSIM that is already installed before you leave, the question never comes up.

덴마크에서 정말 필요한 앱
Denmark runs on the phone: parking, transport tickets, rental bikes, museum and ferry entries, payments. Arrive without data and you will literally be standing in front of things you cannot open. Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay work virtually everywhere, and you will rarely need cash – but MobilePay, the app Danes actually use between themselves, stays closed to visitors. For food, Wolt is the big delivery service in the country. Outside the larger cities – in the west-coast holiday-house areas, for example – nobody delivers at all. For parking, EasyPark gets you furthest, and Too Good To Go, founded in Copenhagen, is unusually well stocked in Denmark. One thing applies to every sign-up: many services send the confirmation code by SMS. This eSIM has no number and receives no texts – use your usual number for that, the one that stays in your phone.

Rejsebillet
The ticket app for public transport across Denmark. Buy single tickets and passes on your phone and show them when the inspector comes.
As a traveller, use this one. The similar-sounding Rejsekort app asks for MitID and a Danish CPR number – residents only. As a traveller, do not count on the physical Rejsekort card any more.
MobilePay
Denmark's payment app. Danes use it to send each other money and to pay at flea markets, farm shops, clubs and small kiosks.
Not usable for tourists: MobilePay requires a Danish bank account, a Danish phone number, a CPR number and MitID. Use your card, Apple Pay or Google Pay – accepted almost everywhere in Denmark, and you will barely need cash.
Dantaxi
Taxi app with drivers across a large part of the country, including smaller towns and regions where nothing else runs.
In holiday-house areas there is often no app-based ride at all – you book through the local taxi company's website, or by phone using your usual number. This eSIM cannot make calls.
Donkey Republic
Rental bikes in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg. Unlock by QR code, pay in the app, park again at an allowed spot.
Without mobile data you cannot start or end the rental – cycling in Denmark runs through the app. Foreign cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted.
DMI
The weather app of the Danish meteorological service, with rain radar and official warnings for storms, heavy rain and coastal flooding.
The app is mostly in Danish. For the North Sea and Baltic coasts it is still the most reliable source – warnings appear there first.
