스페인에서 Simbye eSIM은 어떻게 사용하나요?

2분 안에 연결돼요

1
eSIM 데이터 요금제 선택

Set it up at home

The eSIM arrives by email right after you buy. One tap on the link, or one scan of the QR code, installs it on your phone. Do it calmly at home on Wi-Fi — that does not start the clock, your normal SIM stays in place and your own number stays reachable.

2
설치 버튼 탭하기

Land in Spain

Whether you arrive at Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Ibiza, Gran Canaria or Tenerife South: come out of flight mode, switch the eSIM on and turn on data roaming for it. Within a minute or two you are connected via Orange or Movistar.

3
데이터 로밍 켜기

Get going

The plan starts counting from that first connection in Spain. Navigate, book and stream as you would at home, open a hotspot for your laptop or tablet, and top up whenever data runs low — same eSIM, nothing to set up again.

There is nothing to type in and nothing to configure. Once you switch on data roaming in Spain, your phone picks whichever network comes in best where you are — Movistar, Orange or Vodafone. It moves between the three in the background. If reception is still poor in one particular spot, flight mode on and off again usually sorts it out, because the phone then searches from scratch. If that does not help, you can go into your phone's network settings and pick another network by hand. That is worth trying in mountain valleys and in old town centres with thick stone walls.

You are online in the arrivals halls of Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Palma, Alicante and Málaga before you reach the baggage belt. Coverage is dense in the big cities and along the holiday coasts from the Costa Brava down to the Costa de la Luz. Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura sit on the same Spanish national networks as the mainland — the islands are not a special case and cost no extra.

Unlimited or a fixed bundle: how much data your Spain eSIM really needs

Roaming on your own phone contract is almost always the most expensive way to travel, and the hardest to see through. Many plans charge for each calendar day you touch, others hand you abroad only a fraction of the data you get at home. Land in Málaga at 11pm, check your messages, and on a plan like that you pay for the day and again as soon as midnight passes. With this eSIM you pay up front, with no contract and no registration, and it cannot grow beyond that.

How much you need depends on what you do out there. Navigation, messengers and a handful of photos a day get by on a small bundle. Streaming in the hotel at night, uploading video or feeding the laptop through the hotspot hits the ceiling far faster — which is what the bundles up to 50 GB and the plans with unlimited data are for. Unlimited pays off above all when you do not want to keep count at all.

Validity runs from 7 to 180 days. A week in Barcelona, two or three weeks in Andalusia or on Mallorca, a whole winter on the Costa Blanca — there is a length for each. And if you do run short, you can top up at any moment, keep the same eSIM on your phone and set nothing up again.

Where the networks reach — and where they do not

Movistar belongs to Telefónica and is the country's oldest network, which is why it reaches so far into rural areas. Orange has been part of MasOrange since the 2024 merger with MásMóvil and is particularly strong in the cities. Vodafone is the third large network and is well built out in the urban areas and holiday regions. Together the three cover where travellers actually go: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Málaga, Bilbao, Zaragoza and Granada, plus the coasts from the Costa Brava through the Costa Dorada and Costa Blanca down to the Costa del Sol and the Costa de la Luz.

The islands are not a special case. Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera, along with Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, sit on the same Spanish networks as the mainland. In the resort towns, on the big beaches and in the port cities this is a non-issue.

It thins out where hardly anyone lives: the Pyrenees, the mountains of Asturias, the Sierra de Gredos, the Sierra Nevada above the ski resorts, the empty expanses of Aragón and Castile, lonely stretches of the Camino de Santiago, and the mountain valleys of the Canaries around Teide or on La Gomera. On the AVE high-speed train between Madrid and Seville the connection drops in longer tunnels and returns by itself afterwards. That is true with every Spanish provider — an eSIM does not change the physics of a mast.

SIM registration in Spain: what it means for you

알아두면 좋은 점

Spanish law requires every SIM card sold in the country to be registered to a named person. If you buy a Spanish prepaid card in a shop, you have to show your passport and give a contact address — a hotel or holiday flat is enough. Some branches now accept only a passport and no longer a national ID card, and the card is not switched on until the registration is done in store.

None of that applies to this eSIM. It is not sold in Spain; it connects to the Spanish networks as a guest. You register nowhere, show nobody anything and never set foot in a shop. Spain also has no network blocks and no activation restrictions aimed at foreign eSIMs.

스페인에서 정말 필요한 앱

This eSIM gives you data, not a Spanish phone number. Everything that runs over the internet works normally: maps, translation, WhatsApp calls, bookings, streaming and the hotspot for your laptop or tablet. What does not work: if an app sends you a sign-up code by SMS, that code cannot reach the eSIM. So create those accounts at home while your own number still receives texts — in Spain that mainly means Cabify and Glovo. One more tip if you are renting a car: in the blue-marked bays, the zona azul, you pay for parking with Telpark or ElParking. You just type in the car's plate, and it works with foreign plates too. If you are travelling by train, your ticket sits in the Renfe app on your phone. All of that needs internet, which is exactly what the eSIM is for.

Cabify

Cabify

Spain's own ride-hailing app, founded in Madrid and running in around 40 cities — Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Málaga, Marbella, Benidorm. The fare is fixed before you get in.

Signing up sends a code by SMS. This eSIM has no phone number and cannot receive it, so set the account up at home while your own number still gets texts.

FREE NOW

FREE NOW

Hails real licensed taxis in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Málaga and Bilbao, including straight from the airports. You pay in the app.

In Barcelona private ride-hailing is heavily restricted and thin on the ground. Rely on taxis there rather than Uber or Cabify.

Glovo

Glovo

Founded in Barcelona and the default in Spain: food, groceries, pharmacy and almost anything else delivered to your holiday flat — including in smaller coastal towns.

Registration needs an SMS code, and foreign numbers are not always accepted. Better to create the account before you travel.

Renfe

Renfe

Tickets for the AVE high-speed trains and Cercanías commuter lines: Madrid to Barcelona in about two and a half hours, plus day trips to Toledo, Segovia or Sitges.

Foreign credit cards are often rejected at checkout. Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal usually work better, otherwise buy at a station machine.

Bizum

Bizum

Spain's phone-to-phone payment system. Spaniards split restaurant bills with it, and many small shops, market stalls and clubs accept it.

Only works with a Spanish or Andorran bank account. As a visitor you cannot use it — bring a card and some cash.

TMB App

TMB App

Metro and buses in Barcelona plus the digital T-mobilitat card and live timetables. In Madrid the equivalents are Metro de Madrid and EMT Madrid.

In Madrid single journeys need the red Tarjeta Multi card, and you can only get it from a machine in the station — not in the app and not on your phone.
