파키스탄에서 Simbye eSIM은 어떻게 사용하나요?

2분 안에 연결돼요

1
eSIM 데이터 요금제 선택

Buy and install before you fly

After the purchase you get an email with a link and a QR code. Tap it once or scan the code with your camera and you are done. Do this calmly at home on Wi-Fi — that is also when app sign-ups like inDrive still work with your own phone number.

2
설치 버튼 탭하기

Switch it on after landing

Whether you arrive at Jinnah International in Karachi, Islamabad International, Allama Iqbal International in Lahore or Bacha Khan International in Peshawar: turn off airplane mode and the connection is usually there within a minute. The validity starts with that first connection, not at purchase.

3
데이터 로밍 켜기

Leave data roaming on and go

The Pakistan line needs data roaming switched on — that is normal for a travel eSIM and costs nothing extra. Keep your home SIM in the phone but turn its mobile data off so it cannot quietly run in the background. Hotspot works right away.

This eSIM uses exactly one network in Pakistan: Jazz. There is nothing to pick and nothing to set up by hand. Switch off airplane mode after landing and the connection is usually there within a minute. If nothing happens after a long drive through a dead spot, the same trick almost always works: in your phone settings turn off automatic network search for a moment, tap Jazz manually, then switch back to automatic.

In the cities Jazz is solid — Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, plus the motorways in between and weekend spots like Murree, the Kaghan valley or Swat. The honest part: comfort ends in the high mountains. In Gilgit-Baltistan — around Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu and along the Karakoram Highway — plan for no connection at all. If your phone gets on the network up there at all, it will be in the town centres, and that is not something we can promise you. Up there only the state operator SCOM works reliably, and no travel eSIM can book it. If you are heading north, download your maps offline first and tell people at home you may be unreachable for a day or two.

Why your home contract gets expensive in Pakistan

In most contracts Pakistan sits in a roaming zone that is billed separately — often per megabyte, or through a daily pass that quietly renews every single day. The unpleasant part is not even the price, it is that you cannot see it while you travel. The bill arrives weeks later, and by then nobody can tell which map lookup and which video upload caused it.

The most common search before a trip like this is "Pakistan eSIM buy online", and the reason is simple: people want to know the cost up front. That is exactly what a prepaid bundle does. You book a fixed amount, you pay once, and when it is used up it is used up — nothing keeps running that somebody can invoice you for later. No contract, no notice period, no registration in the country.

The second reason is practical. Getting a local SIM at the airport means standing at a counter with your passport, having your fingerprints scanned and waiting — and being offline for as long as it takes. If you land in Lahore at two in the morning and your driver is trying to reach you through an app, that is the wrong moment for paperwork.

Where the Jazz network actually reaches

Pakistan is two different countries when it comes to coverage. In the urban belt — Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta — and along the motorways connecting them, the network is dense and fast enough for maps, calls over messaging apps and uploads. The same is true of the classic weekend destinations near the capital, Murree, the Kaghan valley and Swat.

North of that it changes. In Gilgit-Baltistan and in Azad Kashmir plan for no connection at all — on the Karakoram Highway, in Ghizer, in Upper Hunza or on the way to Deosai you should count on having nothing. The only operator with real reach up there is the state-run SCOM, which is not available to any travel eSIM — and not to most local SIMs either.

So plan around it rather than being surprised by it: download offline maps for the north before you leave the city, agree fixed meeting points with drivers and guides, and treat any hotel Wi-Fi in the mountains as the main connection rather than a bonus. In the cities the eSIM does everything you need. In the mountains, no SIM card in the country does.

No registration, no fingerprint — and your phone stays unblocked

알아두면 좋은 점

A Pakistani SIM or eSIM is only issued in person: passport, in a shop, with a fingerprint scan. The regulator PTA requires that biometric check, which is exactly why Jazz cannot sell its own eSIM entirely online either. None of that applies to our eSIM — it is a foreign roaming plan on the Jazz network, so there is no ID, no appointment and no trip to a franchise.

The second point is rarely mentioned and regularly catches travellers out: anyone using a local SIM in the country for more than 60 days has to register their handset with the PTA, otherwise the device is blocked on Pakistani networks. Devices running on a foreign SIM in roaming are explicitly exempt. With this eSIM there is no device registration to worry about.
