스웨덴에서 Simbye eSIM은 어떻게 사용하나요?

eSIM 데이터 요금제 선택

Set it up before you fly

Buy the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi. You get an email with a link and a QR code. One tap on the link installs the eSIM, or you scan the QR code with your camera. After that just switch on data roaming for the new line and set mobile data to use it. There's no APN to enter, and your own number stays active alongside it.

설치 버튼 탭하기

Land in Sweden

Whether you arrive at Stockholm Arlanda (ARN), Gothenburg Landvetter (GOT), Malmö Airport (MMX), Stockholm Skavsta (NYO) near Nyköping, Luleå (LLA), Kiruna (KRN), Umeå (UME), Åre Östersund (OSD) or Visby (VBY) — as soon as the plane stops and airplane mode goes off, the eSIM registers on a Swedish network, usually in under a minute. If you come in via Copenhagen Kastrup and the Öresund bridge, you come online on the far side in Malmö, because the plan is for Sweden.

3
데이터 로밍 켜기

The clock starts, then you're set

The days count from the first connection in Sweden, not from the purchase. So you can install it weeks ahead without losing anything. From there you browse, share over hotspot with a laptop or a travel companion, and top up when you're running low — the same eSIM stays in your phone, nothing to reinstall.

There's nothing to choose. The moment you switch off airplane mode in Sweden, your phone finds one of the three networks on its own — Telia, Tele2 or Telenor. No APN to type in anywhere. If things feel slow in one spot, go into network selection, turn off automatic and pick a network by hand. Manual selection only works with a network your plan includes — if you get no connection, switch straight back to automatic. Switch back anyway once you travel on, otherwise you stay locked to one network.

Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala, Lund, Helsingborg, Linköping, Örebro and Umeå have solid 4G and 5G across most of the city, and so do Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg Landvetter airports, the E4 from Malmö through Stockholm up to Luleå, the E6 along the west coast and the fast trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg. The far north is better covered than most people expect: Kiruna, Gällivare, Luleå, Abisko village, Jukkasjärvi, Åre, Östersund and Visby on Gotland all have service, and the northern lights spots around Abisko are inside the coverage area. The dead zones are where nobody lives — on the Kungsleden between Vakkotavare and Kebnekaise, on the Saltoluokta to Kvikkjokk stretch and inside Sarek National Park there is next to no signal on Telia, Tele2 or Telenor, patchy at best in isolated spots, and that's with any SIM. It also thins out on the outer islands of the Stockholm archipelago, in parts of the Höga Kusten and on the ferry crossing to Gotland. Download your maps before you go.

Why roaming on your home contract gets expensive in Sweden

What your operator charges abroad is rarely on the front page of the tariff. Plenty of them bill Sweden by the day: the day rate starts the moment your phone touches a network in the morning, including the day you only open a map for a minute. Others bill by the megabyte, and you find out on the invoice after the trip.

The second case is a capped allowance. Many prepaid and budget plans include a few gigabytes for use abroad, and those are gone after two weeks of maps, video and photo uploads. After that every extra gigabyte is charged separately, or the speed drops so far that a map won't even load. The third case is simply a second line: for a work phone, for someone travelling with you who has no plan of their own, or for the laptop in the hotel room.

Then there's the Swedish specific. Buying a card locally is no longer the easy way out, now that prepaid lines have to be registered there — with BankID, which a visitor can't get, or with a passport in a Telia, Tele2 or Telenor shop. That's exactly the hurdle the eSIM skips: bought prepaid, installed by QR code, no contract, and no papers shown anywhere.

Where Telia, Tele2 and Telenor reach, and where they don't

Sweden is long. It's roughly 1,700 kilometres from Malmö to Kiruna, and coverage follows the population, not the map. Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala, Lund, Helsingborg, Linköping, Örebro and Umeå all have solid 4G and mostly 5G. Along the E4 from Malmö through Stockholm and Sundsvall up to Luleå, on the E6 along the west coast and on the fast trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg the connection holds, with the usual brief drops in tunnels and forest stretches.

The north has more coverage than its wilderness reputation suggests. Kiruna, Gällivare, Luleå, Abisko village, Jukkasjärvi with the ice hotel, Åre, Östersund and Visby on Gotland are all served, and the well-known northern lights spots around Abisko sit inside the coverage area. But the moment you leave the village for open country it stops: on the Kungsleden between Vakkotavare and Kebnekaise, on the Saltoluokta to Kvikkjokk stretch and inside Sarek National Park there is next to no signal on Telia, Tele2 or Telenor, patchy at best in isolated spots. It thins out in much the same way on the outer islands of the Stockholm archipelago, in parts of the Höga Kusten and on the water between Nynäshamn and Gotland. If you're hiking, download the maps offline and tell someone where you're going.

One more Swedish quirk that catches people out: 3G was switched off nationwide during 2025, Tele2 and Telenor closed their 2G networks in December 2025, and only Telia is keeping 2G running until the end of 2027. In practice everything in Sweden now runs on 4G and 5G. A spare handset from the drawer without 4G won't get a usable data connection here any more — and it wouldn't support eSIM anyway.

스웨덴에서 정말 필요한 앱

Sweden is the country where you can travel for three weeks without touching a single krona in cash. A card or Apple Pay works at the coffee cart, on the bus, in the museum and on the ferry — plenty of places don't take cash at all any more. What genuinely doesn't work is anything hanging off a Swedish personal number: Swish, BankID and every app built on top of them. As a visitor you can't count on those, and you don't need to. Your own card is accepted everywhere. Worth having on your phone besides that: Systembolaget, because wine, beer above 3.5 percent and spirits are sold only in these state-run shops — they close early on Saturdays and stay shut on Sundays, and the app shows opening hours and stock. SJ for long-distance trains and SL for Stockholm local transport, both with the ticket on your phone. SMHI for weather that changes by the hour on the coast and in the mountains. Krisinformation for official alerts. And Google Maps with the offline map downloaded in advance, because coverage tends to stop exactly where the scenery starts. Emergency calls to 112 go through your normal SIM, not through this data line.

SL

SL

Public transport in Stockholm: metro, buses, commuter trains and the harbour ferries, with the timetable and your ticket in one app.

Foreign cards sometimes give trouble inside the app. You can skip it in the metro — tap a contactless card straight on the gate and the single fare is charged automatically. In Gothenburg the app is called Västtrafik To Go, in Malmö and Skåne it's Skånetrafiken.

SJ

SJ

Trains across the whole country, from Malmö through Stockholm up to Umeå and Luleå. Booking, seat and digital ticket all live in the app.

Not every service shows up in the SJ app. Snälltåget, VY and Mälartåg sell their own routes — a missing train doesn't mean there isn't one.

Swish

Swish

The payment app half of Sweden reaches for: flea markets, food trucks, splitting a restaurant bill.

Closed to visitors. Swish requires a Swedish personal number, an account at a Swedish bank and BankID, none of which a traveller can get. Don't bother downloading it. Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted almost everywhere in Sweden, often more readily than cash.

Bolt

Bolt

Ride hailing in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala, Lund, Helsingborg, Norrköping and Jönköping. Uber covers most of those and adds Västerås, Örebro, Linköping, Umeå and Visby, among others; in Åre and Östersund only in winter, through Uber Ski.

In smaller towns and out in the country neither app operates. There you call Taxi Stockholm, Taxi Göteborg or Sverigetaxi instead. Swedish taxi fares are not capped — the yellow price sticker on the window is mandatory, so glance at it before you get in.

foodora

foodora

One of the country's biggest delivery services, reaching Uppsala, Lund, Örebro, Jönköping and Umeå as well. Wolt and Uber Eats deliver in a lot of Swedish towns too.

Signing up usually sends an SMS code to your phone number. This eSIM doesn't receive SMS, so create the account before you travel or keep your own number reachable.

EasyPark

EasyPark

Pay for parking from your phone in Stockholm, Malmö, Uppsala, Norrköping, Östersund and over a hundred more Swedish towns. Accepts foreign Visa and Mastercard.

Not every car park is on EasyPark. Many run on Parkster or Mobill instead — the sign at the space tells you which app counts. Read it before you pay.
