كيف تعمل شريحة Simbye eSIM لأيرلندا؟

تصبح متصلاً في أقل من دقيقتين

1
اختر خطة بيانات eSIM

Set it up before you fly

After buying you get an email with a setup link and a QR code. Install the eSIM calmly at home on Wi-Fi — nothing is used up yet. The validity only starts when you first connect to a network in Ireland.

2
اضغط على زر التثبيت

Switch it on after landing

Whether you arrive at Dublin (DUB), Cork (ORK), Shannon (SNN), Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC) or Kerry (KIR), or step off the ferry at Dublin Port or Rosslare: airplane mode off, data roaming on for the Simbye line, data off on your own SIM. You are online in a minute or two.

3
فعّل تجوال البيانات

Top up as you go

Your account shows how much data is left at any time. When it runs low you top up in a few minutes — same eSIM, no new QR code, no reinstalling. Hotspot for a laptop, a tablet or the people you travel with is allowed.

تحقق من توافق الجهاز

تأكد من أن جهازك يدعم eSIM قبل الشراء

The eSIM is not tied to one operator. It may register on Vodafone Ireland, on Three (H3G Ireland) and on eir (Meteor Mobile Ireland), and it takes whichever comes in strongest where you are standing. If it loses that network on the way it can move to another one in the background. There is no APN to type in anywhere. If nothing connects at all, turn off automatic network selection in your settings, pick a network by hand, then switch back to automatic.

At Dublin Airport, Shannon and Cork Airport you are usually connected before you reach baggage reclaim. Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Kilkenny are covered throughout, as are the M50 around Dublin and the motorways to Cork, Limerick and Galway. Killarney, Westport, Kinsale and Dingle town hold a steady signal too, and so do the ferry ports at Dublin Port and Rosslare. It thins out exactly where the good photographs happen: the R336 coast road through An Spidéal and Indreabhán in Connemara, the mountain roads of the Dingle and Beara peninsulas, large parts of Donegal and north Mayo, the valleys of the Wicklow Mountains and the Aran Islands. These dead spots hit every Irish SIM the same way — Vodafone is generally regarded as the steadiest of the three in the countryside. Download the map for the day's drive before you set off.

What roaming on your own contract costs in Ireland

Most people flying into Dublin from far away — the United States, Canada, Australia, the Gulf, Brazil, Japan — pay their home operator a daily flat rate for every day the phone is switched on abroad. Per day, per device, and a ten-day round trip adds up quietly in the background. That is by far the most common reason someone goes looking for a prepaid eSIM for Ireland.

Even when roaming is included in your plan, there is almost always a ceiling on how much data you may use outside your own country, well below what you get at home. A week on the Wild Atlantic Way with navigation running, photos syncing and constant map searching reaches that ceiling fast, and after that it is either throttled or billed by the megabyte. A second line purely for data is the calmer answer: it is paid before you leave, it cannot grow, and nothing appears on your phone bill afterwards. The same goes for a work phone you would rather not fill up privately, and for a tablet that has no plan of its own.

One case comes up in Ireland more than anywhere else: people crossing over from the United Kingdom. Some UK operators include the Republic of Ireland in the plan without an extra charge, others add a daily fee. What applies to yours is in your contract terms — worth a look before you fly, because Dublin and Belfast sit in two different countries as far as your phone is concerned.

Where the networks in Ireland actually reach

Ireland has three national mobile networks: Vodafone Ireland, Three (H3G Ireland) and eir (Meteor Mobile Ireland). This eSIM may use all three and takes whichever is strongest. You decide nothing, the phone handles it in the background, and there is nothing to register and no contract behind it.

In the cities you need not think about it. Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Kilkenny are covered throughout, as are the M50 around Dublin and the motorways to Cork, Limerick and Galway. Killarney, Westport, Kinsale, Dingle town and the larger places along the Wild Atlantic Way hold a steady signal, and so do Dublin Airport, Shannon, Cork Airport and the ferry ports at Dublin Port and Rosslare.

Being honest about the rest: Ireland has dead spots, and they sit exactly where you are going. The R336 coast road through An Spidéal and Indreabhán in Connemara is notorious for it, as are the mountain roads on the Dingle and Beara peninsulas, large parts of Donegal and north Mayo, the valleys of the Wicklow Mountains and the Aran Islands. On some passes you get nothing at all for twenty minutes, and that is true of every Irish SIM equally. So the practical advice for Ireland is always the same: download the Google Maps area for the day's drive, write down the Eircode of your accommodation rather than just the place name, and save your booking confirmations before you set off instead of trying to open them on the road.

Northern Ireland is not included — and you will not see the border

من المفيد أن تعرف

This eSIM covers the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland — Belfast, Derry, the Giant's Causeway, the Causeway Coastal Route — is part of the United Kingdom and runs on UK networks. There is no checkpoint, no sign and no barrier between the two: you drive north from Dublin on the M1 and notice nothing at all, but your phone does.

If your route touches both, plan for it — either a second eSIM for the UK or a Europe eSIM that covers both. Keep it in mind for Donegal too: the fastest road there runs through Northern Ireland for part of the way without you noticing.

التطبيقات التي تحتاجها فعلاً في أيرلندا

Almost everything in Ireland is paid by contactless card, small amounts included — you barely need cash, except on the bus. Among themselves, Irish people mostly move money through Revolut. As a visitor you do not need it, your own card is enough. For trains from Dublin to Galway, Cork or Killarney, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) has its own app with a QR ticket, which you open on data. If you are staying longer, buy a Leap Card at a machine or in a shop and top it up by holding it to your phone with the TFI Leap Top-Up app — noticeably cheaper than cash fares. Food comes via Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats, densest in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. Day-to-day messaging and calling happens on WhatsApp, which runs on data and therefore works normally on this eSIM. Save your accommodation by its Eircode rather than the place name — Irish addresses repeat, Eircodes do not.

The taxi app people in Ireland actually use. Uber does exist in Dublin, but by law it only dispatches licensed taxis at the regulated meter rate — you end up in the same car either way. Bolt is the third option.

Sign-up verifies a mobile number by SMS, and this data eSIM has none. Create the account at home with your own number before you fly.

TFI Live

TFI Live

Live departures for Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, Go-Ahead, the Luas trams, the DART and Irish Rail in one single app, with route maps and saved journeys.

It only shows times, it does not sell tickets. For that you need TFI Go, a Leap Card or the Irish Rail app.

TFI Go

TFI Go

Buys bus tickets straight to your phone, cheaper than paying cash on board, for Transport for Ireland services and several private coach operators.

Not every route and operator is covered. On Dublin Bus you otherwise need a Leap Card or exact coins — the bus gives no change, only a receipt you have to claim back.

Rain radar refreshed every five minutes, official storm and wind warnings, seven-day forecast for your exact spot. The official app of the state weather service, and in Ireland you really will use it.

Eircode Finder

Eircode Finder

Ireland's postcode is seven characters and points at one single front door. Google Maps understands it. Look up the code for your B&B, your hotel or the trailhead car park at finder.eircode.ie and navigation stops guessing.

A website, not an app — you still navigate in Google Maps. Rural Irish addresses without an Eircode regularly drop the pin in the wrong townland.

Payzone Parking (formerly Parking Tag)

Payzone Parking (formerly Parking Tag)

Pay for parking from your phone — on the street in Dublin and in many other Irish towns, extend the session from inside the pub, no coins and no paper ticket on the dashboard.

Needs an account with a card and your number plate. Not every place uses Payzone — the sign tells you which operator applies, in multi-storey car parks often APCOA Connect.
