كيف تعمل شريحة Simbye eSIM للولايات المتحدة؟
تصبح متصلاً في أقل من دقيقتين
Set it up at home
An email with a link and a QR code arrives the moment you buy. Set the eSIM up at home on WiFi, it takes two minutes. Your normal plan stays untouched in the phone.
Switch it on after landing
Whether you arrive at JFK or Newark in New York, in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago O'Hare, San Francisco, Orlando or Las Vegas: turn off airplane mode, turn on data roaming for the new line — you are online after a minute or two. Only now does your plan start counting down.
Use your US number
Your +1 number is ready for calls and texts straight away. Enter it wherever a phone number is asked for: rental car, Uber, restaurant waitlist, verification codes. Your number from home can stay in the phone alongside it, so people can still reach you there.

ما الشبكات التي ستستخدمها في الولايات المتحدة؟
Your USA eSIM connects to AT&T on its own — there is nothing for you to set up.

The eSIM is fixed to AT&T. As soon as you land and switch off airplane mode, your phone finds the network by itself; you do not have to pick a network or type anything in. The only thing that matters is that data roaming is switched on for the new line — that is normal for an eSIM bought abroad and costs nothing extra. If there is still no signal after a few minutes, switching airplane mode on and off once almost always does the trick.
AT&T is one of the three nationwide networks in the United States. At the gate in JFK, Newark, LAX or Miami International you are usually online before you reach baggage claim. In New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Miami, San Francisco, Boston and Seattle you will normally be on 5G, with solid LTE in the suburbs and along the big interstates, and reception is a non-issue in Las Vegas, Orlando, New Orleans and San Diego too. It gets thin where almost nobody lives: Death Valley, large parts of Yellowstone and Yosemite, the canyon country around Zion and Bryce, the desert between Las Vegas and California, and the Rockies. That applies to every American network, not just AT&T — if you are planning a road trip through the national parks, download your maps for offline use before you set off.
شريحة إلكترونية أم شريحة محلية في الولايات المتحدة؟
| المقارنة | شريحة Simbye الإلكترونية | شريحة محلية |
|---|---|---|
| When you get it | By email the moment you buy, installed before you fly | Only after you land: find a store, queue, fill in a form |
| Phone number | A US number with +1 for calls and texts is included | Also available, but it takes time at the counter |
| ID and registration | Not needed | There is no such requirement in the USA, but a carrier store will often still ask for your passport |
| Prepaid or contract | Prepaid: the runtime ends by itself, nothing renews | Prepaid exists too, alongside the monthly plans the stores mainly advertise |
| Paying | Your card in the online shop, final price included | Card or cash on the spot, and sales tax is added to the shelf price at the register |
| Your number from home | Stays in the phone, people can still reach you | Has to come out on single-slot phones |
| Language | Bought and explained in your own language | Advice in English, jargon included |
| If something goes wrong | Support by email, a fresh QR code | Back to the store, often far from your hotel |
Why roaming on your home plan gets expensive in the USA
Whatever country you fly in from, your operator treats the USA as a foreign network with a price list that has nothing to do with your domestic allowance. Some carriers sell day passes, others charge by the megabyte, others again bundle the USA into a paid add-on. The number that applies to you is written in your own plan overview under USA, international or worldwide. We deliberately quote no prices here, because they differ from contract to contract.
The second point is easy to miss: even with an expensive roaming pack you still carry your home number in the phone. American services that ask for a phone number often cannot handle it, and every incoming text and call still runs through your roaming rate. A prepaid line with its own +1 number solves both at once.
A USA eSIM, an e SIM USA, a US travel SIM — all the same thing: a digital SIM card that you buy online, install from a QR code and use without a contract, a deposit or a store visit.
Where the AT&T network reaches — and where it does not
AT&T is one of the three nationwide networks. In the big cities — New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Washington — you will usually be on 5G, with solid LTE in the suburbs and along the major interstates: I-95 down the East Coast, I-10 across the south, I-5 up the West Coast. Reception is a non-issue in Las Vegas, Orlando, New Orleans and San Diego as well.
It looks different where almost nobody lives. In Death Valley, across large parts of Yellowstone and Yosemite, in the canyons around Zion and Bryce, in the desert between Las Vegas and Los Angeles and high up in the Rockies there are long stretches with no signal at all. That is not a shortcoming of this eSIM — it applies to every American network equally.
In practice: if you are planning a road trip through the national parks, download the route as an offline map beforehand and send the message home from the last town before you head in. Inside the parks you will usually have coverage at the visitor center and on the main approach roads, but not in the backcountry.
This eSIM only starts once you are in the USA
You can install it calmly at home on WiFi, but it will not connect to a network until you have landed in the USA. Before that your phone simply shows no service for this line — that is not a fault, it is how it is meant to work. The upside: your days only start counting once you are actually there. It does not work outside the USA, and that includes Canada and Mexico.
Two things are worth checking on your phone beforehand. It has to support eSIM and must not be locked to a single carrier. And for calls it needs calling over LTE, because AT&T has switched off its old 3G network — without that feature data still arrives, but calls do not. On current iPhones and most Android phones both have long been standard.
