How does Simbye eSIM work for Andorra?
Get connected in under 2 minutes
Set it up at home
As soon as you order, we email you a link. One tap and the eSIM is on your phone, sitting next to your normal card without touching it. Nothing is used at this point — the clock only starts later, so set it up before the drive into the mountains.
One switch when you arrive
In Andorra la Vella or Soldeu you only switch on data roaming for the Simbye line and you are set. The phone latches onto the Mobiland network without any help from you. Everything else — APN, profile, number — was already sorted when you installed the eSIM at home.
Keep your number, top up anytime
You keep both worlds: the Simbye line takes the data, your own SIM keeps your number reachable for calls and texts as usual. Should the plan run low between the slopes and the shops, add more in the app with a couple of taps — the eSIM stays put.

Which networks will you be on in Andorra?
Andorra runs on a single mobile network, Mobiland, so your phone joins it the moment you come up into the valleys.
There is nothing to choose here and nothing to set up. Andorra is covered by one operator, Mobiland, and your Simbye line registers on it by itself — usually while you are still on the road up, somewhere around Sant Julià de Lòria if you come from the Spanish side, or shortly after the Envalira tunnel if you drive in from France. No APN to type in, no profile to pick, no app to open. You installed the eSIM at home and that was the whole job. If the bars stay empty after you arrive, put the phone in flight mode for about ten seconds and let it back out — that forces a fresh search. If it still sits there, open network selection, switch off the automatic setting and choose Mobiland by hand.
Coverage follows the valleys, which is where nearly everything in Andorra happens: Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, the shopping streets, Encamp, La Massana, Ordino, Canillo and Sant Julià de Lòria all sit on it. The ski areas are looked after too — Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa and Grandvalira's main lift stations, and over at Pal, Arinsal and Ordino-Arcalís. What thins out is what you would expect in the Pyrenees: the back of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley, where there are no roads at all, the high hiking ground below Coma Pedrosa, the Sorteny valley, and the ridges once you leave the marked pistes. Inside the Envalira tunnel and on the hairpins over the Port d'Envalira the signal comes and goes, and it can drop again in the tight gorges along the CG-1 and CG-2.
eSIM or a local SIM card in Andorra?
Install Simbye before you drive up and you are online as the road climbs. A local prepaid SIM means finding a shop counter in Andorra, waiting for opening hours and sorting the paperwork in person.
| Compared | Simbye eSIM | Local SIM card |
|---|---|---|
| Online from minute one | Scan the QR at home; the line wakes up as you cross. | Only after you reach a shop counter and the SIM is activated. |
| Paperwork | Nothing to hand over; your Simbye account covers it, no counter paperwork. | Bought and registered in person at the counter, with the paperwork done there. |
| Where you get it | From your phone, wherever you are, through the app or the confirmation mail. | Shops in Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria and Pas de la Casa. |
| Paying | Card or wallet in the currency you already use at home. | Cash or card at the counter, only while the shop is open. |
| Your own number | Your usual number stays live beside it for calls and WhatsApp. | A second number nobody has, and your own SIM leaves the tray. |
| Topping up | Add data in the app when it runs low, without leaving the slopes. | Back to a shop or a voucher, often explained in Catalan or Spanish. |
| Reception | Registers on Mobiland by itself, from the valley roads up to the ski stations. | The same Mobiland masts, so the bars match; only the paperwork differs. |
| An Andorran number | No local +376 number here; WhatsApp calls and messages still go through. | A +376 number for ringing a hotel desk or a ski school. |
How much data do you need in Andorra?
So you can work it out instead of guessing: how much an hour costs in the apps you actually use on holiday.
The Netflix and Spotify figures come from the providers themselves (Netflix Help Center, Spotify Support, retrieved 28 Aug 2026). The rest are network-operator estimates (o2, Vodafone, EE) and vary with picture quality and reception.
Do you need a passport at a counter to get data in Andorra?
Andorra has exactly one mobile network. Andorra Telecom, the country's state-owned operator, runs the only mobile infrastructure and sells it under the Mobiland brand, so there is no second provider to compare. Buying a local prepaid line means walking into an Andorra Telecom shop or an approved distributor with your passport or ID card, because the operator asks for identification before activating it. Many home contracts also treat Andorra as an international destination and bill it accordingly.
Your eSIM is issued before you travel and connects to that same Mobiland network as a visiting line, so there is no counter, no document check and no waiting. The honest limits: one network means no second operator to fall back on, you get no Andorran number, and on high border ridges your phone can latch onto a Spanish or French tower, where this plan carries no data.
