Which networks will you be on in Botswana?

There is nothing to choose here. The line rides on Orange, and your phone finds it on its own — you do not pick an operator, type an APN or open an app before it works. Land at Sir Seretse Khama in Gaborone, or come in at Maun or Kasane, switch on data roaming for the Simbye line, and the bars are usually up before you have collected your bag. If it stays blank for a couple of minutes, put the phone into airplane mode, count to ten and switch it back off; that one move fixes most of it. If it is still quiet, go into the network settings, turn off automatic selection and choose the Botswana network from the list by hand.
Gaborone, Francistown, Maun, Kasane, Serowe and Palapye are dependable, and so are the lodges that sit close to those towns. Along the tar it mostly holds — the A1 north through Palapye and Nata, the A3 out to Kasane — with quiet patches between settlements. Where it goes is the bush. Deep in the Okavango Delta the channels and island camps often have nothing at all, and the same is true of the interior of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the Makgadikgadi and Nxai pans, and much of Moremi and Chobe once you are away from the gates. The Trans-Kalahari Highway between Gaborone and Ghanzi runs for long stretches with nobody on it and no signal either. Treat a mokoro trip or a night in a remote camp as offline time and download your maps before you leave town.
