Which networks will you be on in Cameroon?
Your Simbye line runs on Orange, the network you'll pick up in Douala, Yaoundé and out along the coast.

You are not tied to your own operator and not tied to a queue at a kiosk either. The line wakes up as soon as you land at Douala International or Yaoundé Nsimalen, usually while the plane is still rolling. There is nothing to set up on your side: no APN to type, no profile to choose, no app to open before data flows. You switch on data roaming for the Simbye line, and that is the whole of it. If nothing comes through after a few minutes, put the phone into airplane mode, count to ten, and switch it back off — that clears it most of the time. If it still refuses, turn off automatic network selection and choose Orange from the list yourself.
Douala and Yaoundé are solid, and so are Bafoussam, Bamenda, Garoua and Maroua, along with the coastal towns travellers head for — Kribi, Limbe and Buea at the foot of the mountain. Beyond that the map gets honest. The upper slopes of Mount Cameroon lose the signal well before the summit, and the rainforest in the south-east — the Dja Faunal Reserve, the logging tracks toward Lobéké and Boumba-Bek — is largely blank. Korup National Park in the south-west, the Adamawa plateau, and Waza and Bouba Njida in the Far North are the same story. Count on long silent stretches on the road from Yaoundé to Bertoua, on the Ring Road around the Bamenda highlands, and on the run north through Ngaoundéré.
