eSIM Dominican Republic
Dominican Republic eSIM from 3,95€ on the Altice network: prepaid data packs with no contract and no sign-up, set up by QR code and online the minute you land in Punta Cana.
Your Selection
Your plan only starts counting when the eSIM first connects at your destination — so you can buy today and travel in three weeks.
How does Simbye eSIM work for the Dominican Republic?
Get connected in under 2 minutes
Set it up at home
The moment you buy, an email with your install link is on its way. One tap does the job — the eSIM slides in next to your regular card and waits. Nothing runs, nothing counts down yet, which makes the evening before your flight the perfect moment.
One switch after touchdown
In Punta Cana or Santo Domingo you only switch on data roaming for the Simbye line and you are set. The phone latches onto the Altice network without any help from you. Everything else — APN, profile, number — was already handled when you installed the eSIM at home.
Keep your number, top up anytime
You keep both worlds: the Simbye line moves the data, your own SIM keeps your number reachable for calls and texts as usual. Should the plan run low before the trip ends, add more in the app with a couple of taps — the eSIM stays exactly as it is.
Check Device Compatibility

Which networks will you be on in the Dominican Republic?
Your phone settles onto Altice on this line and holds it from the Punta Cana beaches across to the capital.

There is no operator to choose. The line runs on Altice and your phone finds it by itself — no APN to type, no profile to install, no app to open before it works. Land at Punta Cana, at Las Américas outside Santo Domingo or at Puerto Plata, switch on data roaming for the Simbye line, and the bars are usually up before you reach the immigration hall. If nothing appears after a couple of minutes, put the phone into airplane mode, wait ten seconds and turn it back off — that clears most cases. If it is still blank, go into the network settings, switch off automatic selection and pick the Dominican network from the list by hand.
Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Romana, Puerto Plata and the whole resort strip from Bávaro to Punta Cana are dependable, and so are Sosúa, Cabarete, Las Terrenas and Samaná town. The main roads carry well — the Autopista del Coral out to the east coast, the DR-1 up to Santiago, the coastal road along the north. It thins in the mountains and the far southwest. The climb to Jarabacoa and Constanza, the Valle Nuevo plateau and the tracks toward Pico Duarte lose it in the valleys, and so do the mangrove channels of Los Haitises, the Sierra de Bahoruco and the run past Pedernales down to Bahía de las Águilas and the Jaragua park. Boat trips count too: whale watching out in Samaná Bay or the crossing to Cayo Levantado is offline time, so save your map before you set off.
eSIM or a local SIM card in the Dominican Republic?
Take the eSIM: it is usually running before you reach immigration, needs no passport at a counter and no pesos in cash. The one thing it cannot give you is a Dominican number for local calls.
How much data do you need in the Dominican Republic?
So you can work it out instead of guessing: how much an hour costs in the apps you actually use on holiday.
Just staying reachable
1–3 GB
Messages, the map now and then, checking mail. Everything else runs on the hotel Wi-Fi.
An ordinary holiday
5–10 GB
Navigating, social media, uploading photos, a few videos in the evening.
Out a lot, or a laptop along
20 GB and up
Streaming in the evening, video calls home, keeping a laptop or tablet online through your phone.
Data used per hour
The Netflix and Spotify figures come from the providers themselves (Netflix Help Center, Spotify Support, retrieved 28 Aug 2026). The rest are network-operator estimates (o2, Vodafone, EE) and vary with picture quality and reception.
