Which networks will you be on in Fiji?
Fiji runs on a single network, Vodafone, and your phone joins it on its own the moment you land at Nadi.
Vodafone Fiji
Nothing to choose, nothing to set up. Fiji is served by Vodafone and the Simbye line registers on it by itself, normally before you have cleared the doors at Nadi and met the guitars. There is no APN to type, no profile to select and no app you have to open first — that was all done when you installed the eSIM at home. If the phone shows no bars when you arrive, flip it into flight mode for around ten seconds and back out again, which forces a fresh search. If that does not do it, open network selection, switch off the automatic setting and pick the network by hand. Worth trying once more when you reach your island, rather than assuming something is broken.
Viti Levu is the strong part — Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka, Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, Pacific Harbour and Suva, and the Queens and Kings roads that link them. Savusavu and Labasa on Vanua Levu are fine, as are Levuka on Ovalau and the main resort strip of the Mamanucas near Malolo. Then it falls away. The northern Yasawas around Nacula and Nanuya, much of Kadavu, the Lau group and Rotuma get little to nothing, and on Taveuni you can lose it walking the Lavena coast or climbing towards Des Vœux Peak. Inland Viti Levu is the same story — the Nausori Highlands, Navala, the road up to Monasavu. Boat transfers out to the islands and the Bligh Water crossing to Vanua Levu will go quiet in the middle.
