Which networks will you be on in Jersey?
Your phone finds JT's network on Jersey by itself — no network to pick, no APN to type in.
You do not pick a network. The moment you come out of flight mode on Jersey, your phone registers with JT on its own. Only two switches matter in your settings: mobile data on for the Simbye line, and data roaming on for that same line. Without data roaming the connection stays empty even when the signal bars look fine. If nothing happens after a few minutes, flight mode off and on again fixes it almost every time; after that you can also pick JT by hand in the network search.
Jersey is only about nine miles by five, and the network is built accordingly. In St Helier, at Elizabeth Terminal, at Jersey Airport near Saint Peter, in the bays of St Aubin and St Brelade, in Gorey below Mont Orgueil and along the wide St Ouen's Bay in the west you can expect a normal connection. The country lanes around Trinity, St Martin and Grouville are covered too. It gets thinner down in the north coast bays, where high cliffs sit between you and the masts.

Why your home contract gets expensive on Jersey
Jersey is its own jurisdiction. The island is not part of the United Kingdom, it has its own regulator and its own network operators. For your phone that means one thing: the moment you land, you register on a foreign network, and your provider back home bills it as roaming.
The tricky part is less the price itself than working out which price even applies. Some providers treat Jersey like the UK, others like a separate country, and some leave the Channel Islands out of their travel bundles on purpose. Even travel eSIMs marketed for "UK" or "Europe" frequently do not cover Jersey. Two travellers sitting next to each other on the same bus can end up with completely different bills for the same week — and both assumed the same thing beforehand.

How far the network reaches on Jersey

Almost everything visitors head for sits in the well-covered south and east: St Helier with its harbour, Jersey Airport near Saint Peter, St Aubin, St Brelade's Bay, Grouville and Gorey below Mont Orgueil castle. Inland around Trinity and St Martin, and along the wide St Ouen's Bay in the west, you get through normally too.
Where it thins out, geography is the reason rather than the network: the north coast drops away in high cliffs, and down in the bays — Plémont, Grève de Lecq, Bouley Bay, Devil's Hole — you are standing in their shadow. On the coastal paths the connection can drop out in stretches. If you are walking there, download your map, your route back and above all the tide times first. Jersey has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, and on the flat beaches the water comes back surprisingly fast.
There is a hard boundary as well: this plan is for Jersey. On a boat trip out to the Écréhous, on the ferry to Guernsey or St Malo, and over in the UK it does not apply. For those days you need something of your own.
