There is no network to pick. Once you are in the country and your phone registers, the eSIM signs in to the Vala network on its own. After landing that can take a minute or two – if it stalls, switching flight mode on and off again usually sorts it out. Only two things matter: data roaming has to be switched on for the eSIM, and the eSIM has to be selected as the line for mobile data. You do not have to type in any settings by hand. And in your phone's list of lines you will not see Simbye but the name of the network operator. That is exactly how it should look.
In Pristina, Prizren, Ferizaj, Gjilan, Peja and Gjakova you will normally have solid 4G, and the same goes for the road from Adem Jashari airport into the capital and the routes in between. Vala started rolling out 5G in mid-2024 and is expanding mainly in the cities. Plan for 4G anyway: whether 5G actually reaches you at a given spot, on your handset and on this plan is not something we can promise in advance. It gets thinner in the mountains: in the Rugova gorge west of Peja, around the Brezovica ski area in the Sharr range and on the hiking stages through the Bjeshkët e Nemuna the signal can disappear completely.
