No. The number on this line is French and starts with +33. It is a real number, so people can ring you and text you on it and you can register apps with it. What will not arrive are codes that Portuguese banks, MB WAY or local services send only to a +351 number.

No. At a counter in Portugal a passport or ID card is usually required before a prepaid line works, and the receipt and the advice come in Portuguese. Your eSIM belongs to the order you placed at home and joins the local networks as a visiting line, so there is nothing to show and no form to sign.

Inland. The coastal strip where most travellers go is dense: Lisbon with Sintra, Cascais and Costa da Caparica, Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia and Braga, the whole Algarve from Lagos through Albufeira to Tavira, plus Coimbra, Aveiro and Evora. It gets thin in the Alentejo interior, the Serra da Estrela, the steep Douro slopes and the Peneda-Geres park.
