Which networks will you be on in Ghana?
Your Simbye line rides on the local network — the one that carries you through Accra, Kumasi and the coast road west.

You are not tied to your own carrier here, and there is no counter to find at the other end. The line comes up while you are still walking through Kotoka in Accra — often before you reach immigration. There is nothing to configure: no APN to type in, no profile to choose, no app you have to open before data moves. You switch on data roaming for the Simbye line and the phone sorts out the rest by itself. If nothing shows after a few minutes, put the phone into airplane mode for ten seconds and take it out again; that solves it most of the time. Accra and Tema carry well right across the city, and so do Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Ho and Sunyani. Will your Ghana SIM be switched off after 30 days?
For a locally bought SIM, that is exactly what happens. Ghana's National Communications Authority tied every line to the national Ghana Card during the re-registration exercise that started in October 2021, and it set a separate track for visitors: a foreigner may register on a passport or travel card, but the line is activated for thirty days and then deactivated. Stay longer and you are sent to the National Identification Authority for a non-citizen Ghana Card before anyone will keep your number alive.
None of that applies to this eSIM, because it is never registered as a Ghanaian line — it roams onto the network the way your home SIM would, so no Ghana Card, no passport counter and no thirty-day clock. The honest catch: you have no Ghanaian number of your own, which rules out mobile money and any sign-up that texts a code to a +233 line.
