Install or open WhatsApp on any phone — it does not have to be a UK phone. Start a new registration, or go to Settings → Account → Change Number to move an existing account to your new UK number.
Enter your +44 number
Select United Kingdom (+44) from the country list and type your number WITHOUT the leading 0. Example: if your number is 07912 345678, enter 7912 345678. Keeping the leading zero is the single most common mistake.

Make sure you entered your number without the leading 0 after the +44 country code. +44 7912 345678 is correct; +44 07912 345678 will never receive a code because it is not a valid UK number.
